This is of course the national dessert of Franistan, famed long for its properties to heal gastro-intestinal disorders and improve eyesight.

Plus they’ve always had problems with raspberry surplus.

Now that my Franistan ambassador duties are fulfilled, let’s move on to the actual point.

It is very hot today, so hot that to wear socks would be suicide. It’s an immeasurable temperature, and in Franistan the sun’s rays are blocked by numerous mountains and large animals and natives wearing pith helmets. It just doesn’t get as hot there. So, to be honest, this dessert is not consumable on a day such as this. I would suggest ice chips with maple syrup in leu of this for a cooling dessert.

But on any other day, it would be magnificent. No, wonderful even!

Here is the recipe:

1 1/2 cups of all purpose flour

1 cup white sugar

4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 tablespoon cider vinegar

6 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 cup water

1) preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

2) Sift flour, sugar, salt, soda, and cocoa together in an 8×8 ungreased cake pan. (This is pointless but fun) Make three depressions. Pour oil into one well, vinegar into second, and vanilla into the third well. Pour the water over all and stir well with a fork.

3) Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, or until a knife comes out clean. Plop on whipped cream and raspberries.

Matter of Interest: Wacky cake was born from the great depression when people couldn’t afford eggs and such.

My week of exams is finally over, though it dragged on for years. That’s why I’ve been so busy that I haven’t been able to post. I’ve been studying and sleeping, and that’s all I’ve had time for.

Today was the last day of school. It was fun, there were two bouncy houses and a cotton candy machine and snow cones and ice cream and a barbecue. Also there was a 100 foot tall rock wall to climb. The entire last week was half days.

And now the entire glorious summer is stretched out endlessly before me, one eternal golden hay field! Adventure is sailing on the horizon and growing tangled in a vegetable patch.

I NEED to find a bike basket!

Today Peter and I put an extra fun twist on badminton! We pulled the hose all the way to the badminton net and got a plastic lawn chair from my playhouse. Peter got a bungee cord and attached the hose to the back of the chair so it sprayed on the court. We got soaked, and covered in grass, and had an all around scrumptious time! We also played basketball with the hose bungeed to the basketball pole, but that was slightly dangerous, because we almost fell on the concrete when we made sharp turns.

Whenever we play badminton we always make up fun rules. Like, yelling out a word that ends with “Ble” every time you score. “Invincible!” “Incredible!” “Unfathomable!” “Incorrigible !” It’s great. Summer is a fun time if you are good at making up games.
