The small but steep hill behind our house was teeming with wildflowers in early summer. They spill endlessly down and wave like streamers in the wind, yearning towards the hills.

After a ride on the trail it’s nice to sink down among the flowers and smell the wind blowing over from the mountains.

Pipkin often makes a dash for the tall grass in the evening when it’s time for bed in efforts to escape.

The d&h rail trail runs for 40 miles through Vermont. It’s just down the hill behind our house and is canopied by maples and birches. It is kept up very well by the state, and it’s very flat, so it’s perfect for bike riding. I ride to my sister’s house all the time by way of the trail. Usually there’s no one on it, so you can whoop and yell as loud as you want.

Here is what I have been doing lately:

Playing Soccer

Listening to this song (perfect for rail trail rambles)

Writing in my journal

Reading these books:

I especially love the last two, they two of my new favorites.

Writing letters

toasting marshmallows over the stove

working on secret projects

clipping duck wings

eating at bad restaurants

eating ice cream

mowing the huge lawn with a push mower because the riding one broke

picking flowers

My oldest sister Stephanie was married (to Micah) in the beginning of June. It was a very miniature wedding, lacking much fuss, really, which isn’t what they wanted at all. In fact there were only two guests, my brother Peter and his girlfriend Abi. We couldn’t go because it was too far away and also we had to milk.

So, instead of an enormous fancy wedding where nobody has fun and all the money you spent on it goes down the drain, they had a wedding celebration later in June! It was in hay mow of our barn, and mom and I made all the tissue paper flowers. I made all the paper cranes. It was wonderful, and I built a hay couch. It was a pain to sweep out all the extra hay as we had just unloaded a couple of days before, but setting everything up was fun.

Sorry if I sound sleepy, because I am!

I had a physical yesterday and apparently I am in prime condition. I wish they had told me my height.

So anyway, happy wedding to us all!

I have been very busy indeed, what with chinese food and gardens and indoor soccer and drawing and secret projects and typewriter up-keep. Honestly, sometimes I’m so busy that I do nothing at all!

Today I spent working on homework. For english we had to write a newspaper article about a current event. Of course I considered the Royal Wedding, but really, everyone in the galaxy will be doing that. So, I did mine on the horrible tornadoes in the South. Also I finished my math homework and mom and I went to Walker’s and bought a bluebird house and some pansies! I had an indoor soccer game tonight. I hate indoor soccer! We play on a really nice indoor field, but the turf is laid out over a hockey rink, so it’s freezing! Also, if you ever fall it’s like falling on broken glass. No worse, broken plexi-glass! I tripped in the game tonight after wrenching the ball away from some person, and now my knees are all scraped. We didn’t win, because we are not very good. I feel I could definitely played better. Soccer is my favorite, but I haven’t played it in a long time.

We just watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part One on dvd, which I got for Easter along with bubble bath. Our new house has an enormous jacuzzi, Hooray!, but we never have any bubble bath.

Bon Nuit!

This is what my birthday cake looked like. It was made for the occasion by one of our neighbors. There were alternating layers of devil’s food and angel’s food cake, with chocolate mousse in between and chocolate buttercream frosting! I could only eat half a piece, but it was fantastic!

We didn’t find a kindle case at the antique store, but I did get a bracelet, an interesting printer’s block of old fashioned UPS trucks being loaded up, and a remarkable jar of buttons! Now we are having an afternoon feast!

My birthday was the best! I always like having it, especially since it’s on April Fool’s Day. Wasn’t I lucky to born on one of the best holidays?

My big present was a kindle! It was a rather enormous surprise to see it, because I have never even considered having one, and have sometimes fought against them. So at first I sort of under-reacted, I think, but after that I got excited for it! I still love real life books, they are marvelous. But I was always running out before, and now I never will! And I’ll still go to the library, too, just because it is one of my favorite places.

Tomorrow we are going to a magnificent antique store maybe to look for kindle cases. I’m sure they made them hundreds of years ago! Also, I need some more interesting jewelry.

Stephanie and Micah came home for my birthday as a surprise, so Micah and I have been playing Super Mario Brothers! Micah is really good at it, and I’m not, so we are great at it!

Besides the kindle I also got a kindle light. It’s actually for the nook, which is an e-reader made by Barnes and Noble, but it works for both. It’s called the Lyra Light, and it’s neck is very bendy and nice.

Bon Nuit!

I haven’t posted in ages I know, but I have been so busy. We moved into our new house and have been scrabbling round putting things up and sticking things down, and I’ve started at a new school (which I really like). Our new house is large and wonderful and a marvelous grey African goose came with it named Oscar! My room is the best room in the whole place. Here is a sneak preview of it:

Here is what I have been doing lately:

and also this, watering my new begonia:

This week is my break from school, a whole 9 days! I have 4 days left, and there’s so much to do. I like all of my teachers at school, and even Physics is fun. Also, all the teachers are called by their first names, and you can eat in most of the classes! I have an acting class and I am in chorus, and a writing class where you just sit there and write and eat cookies and lollipops. It is hard to make friends all over again, and I still feel a little out of place, and also it was hard to find my way around to classes for a while, but everyone helped me and I am making friends pretty fast! Also, you can get a cinnamon bun for 50 cents.

Here are some preview pictures of our new house. Soon, I will do a full house tour!

Actually that’s the only picture!

Here’s what I like: dangling dog biscuits tied to a string tied to a cane over the railing of my room and teasing the dogs!

Anyway, that is all that’s happened, except for that I can’t edit photos anymore because photoshop is broken, and also that I am reading the Lord of the Rings and I’m on the last book! I also watched the first two movies since I’m past those and I really liked them! I have never really seen them before, but I am glad to see them now. Also I have really been wanting a donut. I will try to post again soon.
