Actually, it’s only one drawing, which I thought was exceptionally great, especially since it was my first graphite drawing ever! It’s more black in real life.

Today I drew this mostly, and we got some more apples, which are generally going to be made into something, and I am  hungry, so I really can’t be more anxious to go and eat it.

Also I read a lot and sat wondering about things and putting on masks and thinking out stories. Now, I have to go and take a shower, which is really the last straw. Shower’s are so dull, and I really wish somebody would at least invent a waterproof book.

Night Night, and sorry for the weakly post!

We traipsed out for a walk one day when the leaves were still green, and saw marvelous things. Red berries that you can look through to see the sunlight, flowers as thin as lace, cottontail rabbits stopping to wrinkle their noses, and pokey thistles. I only just uncovered the photos.

I had a small adventure today, and the back of my knee hurts from all the strain. We have a full jar of lemon drops at our disposal, so I suspect I will regain my health. Darby has an ear infection and is in a hurry, so we feed him liver flavored biscuits and Pipkin sniffs his whiskers. So, spit spot, off I have to go, to generally be a help and sort of get in the way of things.

  • We went blueberry picking yesterday. Actually, I didn’t pick a single berry, and documented the journey instead by taking pictures and drawing. The day was shining and new, and the temperature was a jolly red one. Here are some photographs.

I just sat around on a blanket and read the New York Times, my favorite newspaper, and took some snapshots and drew. We ate ice cream and fries on the way home, because we were too, too, hungry for real lunch. Mom made a blueberry pie that you can really smack your lips at, it’s just dripping with blueberries and brown sugar!

I’ve decided to start using a watermark on my photos, as I’m sure you’ve noticed. It looks more professional, you know. I am going to open up a Flickr account as soon as I can, because I like taking pictures and editing them and all. I am getting pretty knowledgeable about Photoshop, these pictures today were all made with them. unfortunately, the field journal drawings look rather askew, because the scanner never gets the colors right. I can assure you, they look dashing in real life.

Have a happy day!

P.S.-Here is the blueberry pie recipe:

Pastry for 2 crust pie

4 cups of blueberries

1 cup of sugar

1/3 cup of flour

1 teaspoon grated lemon peel

1/8 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons butter

Heat oven to 425 degrees farenheit.

Combine berries, sugar, flour, lemon peel and salt. Place in pastry lined 9 inch pie pan. Dot with butter. Adjust top and flute edges; cut vents.

Bake in hot oven 40 to 50 minutes, or until crust is lightly browned and juice bubbles through steam vents.

Eat pie with vanilla ice cream and watch an Audrey Hepburn movie, or Doris Day in a pinch.
